CHARM Lab undergraduate research assistant Courtney Smith was recently awarded a Magellan Galen grant. The Galen Health Fellows program Galen is a Living and Learning Community for University of South Carolina students interested in a healthcare career. The university established the program to give pre-health students a more holistic perspective on health care practice and issues. The Office of Undergraduate Research established the Magellan Galen as a means of linking pre-health students with faculty members researching important health issues. Courtney joined our lab as an existing Galen Health Fellow with a pre-identified interest in working with military and veteran populations. As part of her Magellan Galen project, she will work collaboratively with Dr. Fillo on a project focused on adverse childhood experiences and risk for military sexual trauma victimization among US military service members and veterans. Congratulations to Courtney for getting funded to support incredibly important research!
