CHARM Lab student research Madigan Wilentz recently received a Magellan Mini-Grant from the USC Office of Research. As part of this grant project, Wilentz and Dr. Fillo will work collaboratively to identify trends in relations between martial status and alcohol misuse patterns in the United States with a specific focus on data from the period 2012-2021. Dr. Fillo previously identified gaps in the existing data collected by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), which is conducted annually by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This newly funded Magellan award will help ensure that substance use-focused policy in the United States is based on more comprehensive and precise data. Congratulations to Madigan on the award and the important work you and Dr. Fillo will undertake!
